I deleted instagram for a week. Here's what happened

A Problem enabled

Just like you, I always wanted the news and trends, fast and convenient. And for most of us, Instagram was the thing; it was the solution that we so desperately needed.

And so every day, I would always hop on Instagram and scroll by. But like the saying goes, “Too much of something good can turn it bad.” I was once reliant but soon became addicted and dependent on social media, mainly Instagram. From comparing my lifestyle to others, to reading gossip, to doom scrolling, and just full-on brain-rot activity.

Problem identified

So I had a problem, a problem that needed fixing. I tried setting a timer for the app, and that didn’t work. I tried to find something to do in my time, but even then, I would find myself back on the app. I tried other solutions, and they didn’t work, and so then, I knew what had to be done. I had to completely delete Instagram!

Problem addressed

So I deleted the app, and I must say it was hard. On the first day, I was bored, and I began to fidget uncontrollably. More and more days passed, and I felt like I was missing out, but I had to stay in the fight. After a week, my habits started to change, and after some more weeks, I had forgotten about Instagram completely.

Problem solved

The journey was hard and confusing, but the result was that I had my certainty back, and I no longer had to depend on or rely on something external to complete me. And with the rise of social media, many of us have also become numb to this. We just went along with it, knowing very well that we were becoming more and more detached, depressed, and less ourselves. It’s about time that we regained our lives, not the reels we post, not the fake, overly exaggerated lies that we call “highlights,” and definitely not the stories that we fabricate.

I now read books, newspapers, and other beneficial material, and if I could, you can too.
