If you are a creative person by nature, you probably see things differently than others. “Your taste is immaculate”, they say. And for many of you, you were either born with it or you were the exception.

Maybe you, reading this, “yeah, you”, you could be a stylist, a photographer, a videographer, a director, a writer, or maybe an architect. At your flow stage, so probably think “damn, I am special”, and at that moment, who would beg to differ.

The hurdles

There is another side to this coin, which has many hurdles and a sense of frustration that many of us don’t speak about. It’s that moment when, out of thin air, your creativity vanishes! There are feelings of writer’s block, burnout, confusion, and none of your ideas or attempts seem to stick. We often find it hard to handle because it feels like an attack on our creativity, and it attacks our identity.

If I can’t paint, am I not a painter? If I can’t then put a piece together, some fabric, am I really a stylist? We begin to question ourselves, and impostor syndrome begins to creep in.

The recovery

And at this exact moment, it is essential to remember to breathe. Pause, go take your walk, place your calming music, and just relax. This is the point when your body begins to unwind. Like a phone recharging, we also need to recharge. Remember, you are not a robot.

Embrace the decompression, that time of leisure, because in a moment you will be back to business. And when boredom comes, don’t be quick to dismiss it because this is where all the magic happens. Here, our minds begin to open new channels, those that we otherwise would have never imagined. You are where you are meant to be because out of nothing’s something great will blossom.

Once you feel ready, grab your inspiration, a cup of your favorite coffee, and continue where you left off.
